FED:Amazing there are survivors at all: Bishop

Acting Opposition Leader JULIE BISHOP says it's amazing anyone has survived a deadly
boat accident involving around 70 asylum seekers off Christmas Island.

Acting Prime Minister WAYNE SWAN has confirmed some dead bodies have already been plucked
from the rough seas .. off the north-west coast of Australia.

Ms BISHOP says weather conditions around the island are particularly bad at the moment.

She says the accident would have been extremely traumatic and terrifying for all those
involved and and the locals who witnessed it.
