NEW YORK -- A six-alarm fire at a Brooklyn mattress factory Monday injured 10 people and forced neighborhood residents to go indoors and close their windows because of the smoke.
The blaze was reported just after 3 p.m. Monday at the Paradise Mattress Co., at 781 Bushwick Ave., in the Bushwick section, the fire department said. About 200 firefighters were still trying to bring it under control several hours later.
Nine firefighters were injured; at least one was treated at a hospital. One civilian was treated at the scene.
