SA: Union proposal to solve Mobil dispute set for rejection

Oil company Mobil is set to reject a union plan that includes a pledge not to strike
at its Adelaide refinery.

Refinery manager GLENN HENSON says it's another union stalling tactic in the dispute
over maintenance practices at the Port Stanvac refinery.

The refinery supplies about 85 per cent of Adelaide's fuel.

Mobil is back in talks with the Australian Manufacturers Union at the Industrial Relations
Commission.

The dispute has been triggered by Mobil's plan to cut maintenance staff by 31 workers
- to a total of 12.

The union claims Mobil is secretly training a strike-breaking workforce in New South
Wales, in case the dispute escalate.

Mobil has confirmed it has contingency plans but refuses to confirm or deny training
strike-breakers.
