Cannon scores 21 to lead Wildcats over Grens

It may only be December, but Wheeling guard Janelle Cannon already has her eyes on the end of the regular season and another Mid-Suburban League East title.

Cannon and her visiting Wheeling teammates downed MSL East foe Elk Grove 49-37 Friday behind Cannon's game-high 21 points.

''These are big games, and we want to get another conference championship,'' Cannon said. ''You want to make your name in the conference.''

Wheeling went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in the game's last 56 seconds. The Wildcats had a seven-point lead when the free-throw barrage started. Cannon went 6-for-6 from the line in that run.
