Fed: Sugar industry welcomes sugar package = 2

Another sugar farmers' lobby group, the Australian Cane Farmers Association (ACFA),
said the rescue package as it stood would not bring about reform, restructuring and sustainability
in the industry.

"The package announced today really is a 'bridge too short' and has fallen badly short
of what is needed for the industry, although its fundamentals are reasonable," ACFA chairman
Ross Walker said.

"Elements of the package appear reasonable at face value but they would need to be
repeated annually for the next five years to provide a real solution."
