NSW; 20yo man assisting with inquiries into attack on dad, baby
SYDNEY, Aug 18 AAP - A 20-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries intoa gang attack on a Sydney father that left his five-week-old daughter with a fracturedskull.
NSW Police said a man went to Maroubra Police Station about 8pm (AEST) yesterday andoffered information about the attack on 26-year-old Jeremy Nunes and his baby Elizabeth.
"A 20-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries into an assault on a five-week-oldbaby last week," a police spokeswoman said today.
Mr Nunes was carrying his daughter when he was knocked to the ground and kicked bya group of youths on Thursday night.
He was attacked just a few hundred metres from Maroubra police station about 8pm (AEST)in Hinkler Street, which was still busy with late-night shoppers.
The 20-year-old was questioned by police and released pending further inquiries, thespokeswoman said.
Baby Elizabeth was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick in a serious condition,where doctors said it could be years before any brain damage was detected.
Today The Daily Telegraph reported that Elizabeth had suffered seizures as a resultof her injuries and was at risk of developing long-term epilepsy.
